Bubble Tea
This duet for oboe and bassoon was inspired by the delightful beverage known as “bubble tea.” I have lovely memories sharing the drink with friends, especially oboists. The piece starts with “Boba,” a quicker bouncy section representative of the chewy tapioca pearls. The middle section is called “Milk Cap,” a creamy addition to the top of bubble tea captured by an elegant oboe melody. The piece ends with a recapitulation to the “Boba” theme.

Tejon Street
This original march for wind quintet was inspired by the main street downtown Colorado Springs, CO, my current hometown. Since Tejon Street hosts the city’s parades and festivities, I wanted to compose a march that could be played by a military band on parade down the street. This short and peppy work follows an abbreviated march form reminiscent of Sousa and Fillmore.
